Frequently Asked Questions

Batteries

We recommend batteries to be stored at around 20-30% capacity (2 LEDs) when they will not be in use for over a month. Make sure to check and maintain the charge level every couple of months. Check the battery manual for proper storing temperatures.

Press and hold the check indicator button for about 3 seconds to engage the USB port.

After 30 minutes of inactivity, the USB will shut off on its own.

The blue port is called the D-Tap Advanced. It can function as a regular D-Tap output and as a charge port only when used together with our VL-DT1 D-Tap Charger.

Answers vary based on the capacity of the battery you wish to use as well as the wattage required from your equipment. Please refer to our run-time calculator/chart for some popular camera options here.

We develop our batteries to work best with our chargers, however, most V-Mount chargers from third parties (Anton Bauer, Core SWX, RED, SONY) also work.

We have lots of travel-friendly batteries that are <100Wh and between 101~160Wh. Keep in mind there are varying quantity limitations for both. Please check latest up-to-date information here and remember to always verify with your airline.

'Shut Off Battery Voltage' on the camera may be set too high. We recommend this to be set at about 12V so the A-Vmicro2 will auto-switch to the second battery.

'Shut Off Battery Voltage' on the camera may be set too high. We recommend this to be set at 12.0V or lower for the Powerlink function to activate properly.

No. VL-DT1 will only work with IDX batteries equipped with a D-Tap Advanced port. (ie. DUO-C98, IPL-98, Imicro-98, SB-U98, etc.)

Power Supplies

Remove the small rubber screw cover on the top of the unit. Turn the screw inside to adjust the output. (Adjustable 14.3V-15.8V)

Wireless

The receiver should be mounted about 10 feet high to maintain line-of-sight with the transmitter.

Due to the many variables that can interrupt wireless transmission such as location, crowd, walls, other wireless signals, etc., please contact our customer service department to provide details of your setup.

Our CW-1 and CW-3 were developed to be budget-friendly wireless units for smaller productions to transmit the signal from the camera to a director’s monitor. They were never intended to be used for live events. Large crowds of people can block signals from being transmitted properly.

Things can change in an environment without you noticing (neighbor installs a new wireless unit). Try changing locations (taking the unit home) and see if it works. Warranty periods vary amongst our products. Please refer to our warranty page here for current information.

The buyer will assume the costs to ship items to IDX’s warehouse. If it is determined that warranty repair applies, then the product will be shipped back by UPS Ground to the buyer at IDX’s expense.

If goods are shipped to us without this number, they may be refused.

A $30.00 evaluation fee will apply to each non-warranty model that is sent to IDX for service and/or repair that covers evaluation, physical review and diagnostic analysis prior to actual repair. Approved repairs on out-of-warranty items will be charged at a rate of $50.00 per half-hour of labor plus cost of parts.

The $30.00 evaluation fee will be waived if the item needs to be serviced and has been approved for repair. If evaluated units are determined to need repair and the customer declines to have the product serviced, the charge for the evaluation performed will still apply.

If the buyer wishes to return goods for any reason, they should contact their place of purchase.

Popular replacement parts may be purchased through our online store. If you cannot find the part you are looking for, please e-mail us at service.usa@idx.tv. Items repaired by users void all warranties.
